100% Wolf Review

2026 is a relatively slow year for new attractions worldwide, so the latest addition to Plopsaland Deutschland (formerly Holiday Park) stands out as one of the more notable roller coaster openings.

100% Wolf is a Gerstlauer family coaster featuring two lift hills, a backwards spike, and theming based on the Australian animated film of the same name.

The coaster sits opposite one of the park’s headline attractions, Sky Scream, and next to a plane-themed area featuring several flat rides. The Plopsa Group is known for blending very different themes together. A great example is in their Belgium park, where a medieval castle area sits opposite a Swiss-themed coaster connected to a dinosaur log flume. On paper, it shouldn’t work, but somehow it does. The same applies here.

The new area is visually strong, centred around a large wolf rock structure with Freddy Lupin (The main character of the film) perched on top. Beneath the coaster’s track, you’ll find multiple statues of wolves, which fans of 100% Wolf will appreciate. Personally, I haven’t seen the film, so I don’t have a connection to the IP, but the theming still lands well visually.

The station is located inside the wolf rock structure itself. While it looks impressive from the outside, the interior is basic, with character artwork and portraits lining the walls.

Now onto the coaster itself. In my opinion, Gerstlauer produces some of the best family coasters around. Their portfolio includes Pegase Express at Parc Astérix, FireChaser Express at Dollywood, and Mecalodon at Walibi Belgium. However, this ride feels closest in style to Wakala at Bellewaerde.

That said, it doesn’t quite reach the same heights as those standouts. However, it’s still an excellent and very welcome addition to the park.

The layout starts with a more drawn out first drop, keeping riders elevated as the train weaves through an out-and-back style section. As you return, the train continues to build speed, flowing through a series of outer-banked turns in a twister layout while getting faster and faster before reaching the second lift hill.

This second lift works well for pacing, giving a brief breather before a boosted crest and the ride’s biggest drop. From there, a short straight section which double as a brake run leads into a standout moment: diving through the mouth of the wolf statue and into a backwards spike, before completing the circuit in reverse.

It’s a smart, efficient layout, one that could easily be cloned for smaller parks looking to add a solid family coaster. While it may not be a headline-grabbing attraction, it’s a reliable crowd-pleaser.

My main criticism is the lack of atmosphere and effects. The wolf structure feels like a missed opportunity, smoke effects, lighting, or stronger audio would have elevated the experience significantly. There’s occasional ambient sound (a baby wolf barking), but it feels sparse. More howls, especially on the final spike, would have added a much stronger sense of finale.

Overall, 100% Wolf is a great addition to the park. It looks fantastic, rides well, and introduces some excellent step-up elements for younger thrill seekers.
